The Third Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF3) will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from June 19th to 23rd. For five days, thousands of participants from more than 150 nations will discuss, debate and share experiences about how to make the world’s cities better places to live. Tackling challenges and seizing opportunities associated with an urbanizing world will be the subject of conversation among the conference’s estimated 8000 attendees.

_

WUF was established by UN-HABITAT as an inclusive and open forum. Held every two years, it allows dialogue among urban actors from all sectors – national governments, local authorities, the private sector, communities, the academe and organized labour – to exchange know-how and generate new ideas.

WUF3 is being hosted by the Government of Canada. It will mark the 30th anniversary of the first Habitat Conference, the United Nations conference on human settlements held in Vancouver in 1976 that led to the creation of UN-Habitat. On this important anniversary, it is hoped that WUF3 will be a transformative event, acting as a catalyst for sustainable urban development in both the north and the south.
